VMware VCenter Converter Standalone - unable to obtain hardware information for the selected machine

 Unable to obtain hardware information for the selected machine


This happens if you are logged in to the client machine as another user other than the administrator.

Right click on the VMware VCenter Converter Standalone icon at your desktop and select Run as Administrator. This will allow VMware VCenter Converter Standalone to get your hardware information.
